i have read a lot of reports on c-max dinghy towing. there seems no reports of transmission failure due to flat towing, but there are quite a bit of complaints about the battery drain in early model year (2013). ford has since come up with software upgrades the issue may have been resolved. however, charging line is always a good thing to have
